Edith Packer-Greenberg taught 6th grade and gifted children at PS 42 in Arverne, Queens for many years.

At the time of her retirement in 1984, Packer-Greenberg was a library specialist. “She was a well-respected and beloved teacher at PS 42,” said her son, Douglas Packer, a former teacher and assistant principal at Alfred E. Smith HS in the Bronx and elsewhere in the borough.

Packer-Greenberg is survived by another son, Wayne, and a daughter, Carol, a former teacher at Francis Lewis HS in Queens. Packer-Greenberg, who was living in Lake Worth, Fla., is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
