Gilbert Constant was a dedicated and generous colleague to his coworkers and a caring educator to his students in the school community at 811K, a District 75 junior high and high school in Brooklyn.
Hardworking, optimistic, intelligent and humorous, Gilbert influenced the entire school community every day in a positive way. Among his passions were politics and current events in the area surrounding his Sheepshead Bay school. He shared those passions with his coworkers and students, sparking their interest and engaging them in the larger world outside the school’s walls.
Gilbert was always ready to offer sound advice to his coworkers on subjects related to their professional lives and well-being. They also appreciated him for always stepping up to help out those in need.
Gilbert Constant is survived by his loving wife and his daughter.

I worked with Gilbert for 18 years. He was always there to help us out in the gym. Gonna miss talking about movies and whatever else was going on. My condolences to his wife, daughter and family
My heart was shocked when I heard the news about Gilbert, I remember Gilbert from Edward R Murrow High School he has a good heart and great smile. He always give staff and students with a good advice to everybody. Also I know he was a father figure to me and the students because its shows compassion. I wanna thank u Gilbert for everything u taught me with good memories.

My heart is still in unbelief of Gilbert’s passing, words cannot describe the sadness in my heart for his family and all that knew him. Everyday our class sat together at lunch time and as we worked with our students Gilbert calm and gentle ways with the children were always visible in keeping his students sitting quietly, smiling to get their lunches. Gilbert also looked out for our students and without asking would be there in any time of children’s safety issues or if the student came to him for assistance. In the times we spoke his concern for the staff and the students were always with kind words and always sought out to do things better. Gilbert peaceful ways reminded me so much of one of my sons and it was always a pleasure speaking to him as we shared about our family gatherings and love for them. I am so grateful to the Lord for the times we shared and the kindness and humility Gilbert always demonstrated. I will greatly miss his sweet smile every morning as he greeted us all at 811k. Never to be forgotten how much kindness you shared with us all. My condolences to His wife & daughter and mother and all family, I want to thank you for who Gilbert personality and views in life help to enrich many lives here at 811k, his love and involvement with the students and staff were life giving and will always be treasured in our hearts. God bless you all as the Lord brings comfort to the hearts to all of his family and those that knew him.
GILBERT such a pleasure to work with throughout the years and he will be missed sincerly!!!! A very dedicated worker & kind to the students and staff. Gilbert was such a nice gentlemen and one of our ParaProfessional who work every day with love, kindness. Our students loved him so much, he was always able to speak to all student with the respect that each deserves! Gilbert thank you so much for being in our live at PS811K you will be miss so so much! RIP my friend you will always be in our thoughts and prayers always!
Whenever I would pass by Gilbert in the hallway he would always have a smile on his face, I would smile right back! He was a great guy!
I worked with Gilbert for many years. He was a true professional and will be missed dearly by the students and the staff at our school. I will miss our conversations about the movies we enjoyed. My condolences to his family.
